Meet Olivia!

Hello, Dear Ones! Just a little update on my health - I'm doing so much better now and I thank you all for your sweet comments to me. You're a treasure.

Okie dokie, you may remember that I had an old buffet here in my dining room that I had painted when we moved in our home here in The Woodlands.

Here it is! I have had her for many years and when we moved, I gave her an update. She's pretty old and I was on the lookout for a bigger buffet.

Well, I found one! I would like to introduce you to Olivia! She is so pretty and is quite a bit bigger and has more storage. I'm happy!

Look at the pretty details! Her shapely legs and pretty wood doors. She's old too, I'm thinking 1940s or 1950s. I found her at a resale shop and I took them my old buffet and they gladly took it!

She is quite a bit bigger and I have more room on the top to poke on the pretties. And...the storage behind the doors is great and the drawers are nice and deep!

What do you think of Olivia? She's very happy to bed in my dining room and I'm happy to have her. Get ready because you'll probably be seeing a lot more of Olivia! Oops, I see I have two different colored candles up there. Just keepin' it real!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you a little Note Song ~

Just One Look

Just one look
That's all it took, yeah
Just one look
That's all it took, yeah
Just one look
And I felt so I, I, I'm in love
With you
Oh, oh
I found out
How good it feels, feels, feels
To have your love
Oh, oh
Say you will
Will be mine
Forever and always
Oh, oh
Just one look
And I knew, knew, knew
That you were my only one
Oh-oh-whoa
I thought I was dreaming
But I was wrong, yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, but I'm gonna keep on scheming
'Til I can make you
Make you my own
So you see
I really care
Without you, I'm nothin'
Oh, oh
Just one look
And I know
I'll get you someday
Oh-oh-whoa
I thought I was dreaming
But I was wrong, yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, but I'm gonna keep on scheming
'Til I can make you
Make you my own
Just one look
That's all it took, yeah
Just one look
That's all it took, yeah
Just one look
That's all it took, yeah
Just one look
That's all it took, yeah
Just one look

A Late Easter Tablescape

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I'm late in sharing my Easter table. We attended the early service for Easter at our church and had invited some friends to come over for lunch. We got home in time for me to heat everything up - ham and all the goodies that go with it!

Let me share my table...

I am so blessed, y'all! My neighbor was cleaning out her linen closet and just happened upon a couple of tablecloths she didn't use. So...she thought of me! How marvelous and this beautiful white tablecloth is one she gave me! Just perfect for my Easter table.

I used my Blue Garland dishes with a Cadberry egg on each plate, of course.
Battenburg lace napkins in sparkly napkin rings.
My centerpiece was fun to put together.
I used a low rectangle piece of Milk Glass and put a little bunny in the center.
Then I poked in Spring blooms and some greenery and I was a happy chick. Or should I say a happy bunny? Just so you know, the big glass bowl at the end of the table was for my salad, just sayin'.
I sprinkled some Hershey's milk chocolate Easter eggs in the center of the table and a few more bunny. In my glass bunnies with lids, I placed a colored Easter egg in their bellies!
Unfortunately the pretty didn't last long. You know how that goes.
Hope I'm forgiven for being late!

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                           Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

It's Too Late

Stayed in bed all mornin' just to pass the time
There's somethin' wrong here, there can be no denyin'
One of us is changin', or maybe we've just stopped tryin'
And it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Somethin' inside has died
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it
Oh, no, no, no, no, no
(No, no, no, no)
It used to be so easy, livin' here with you
You were light and breezy, and I knew just what to do
Now you look so unhappy and I feel like a fool
And it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it (we can't make it)
Somethin' inside has died
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it
Oh, no, no
There'll be good times again for me and you
But we just can't stay together, don't you feel it, too?
Still I'm glad for what we had and how I once loved you
But it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it (we can't make it)
Somethin' inside has died
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it
Oh, no, no, no, no
It's too late, baby
It's too late now, darling
It's too late

Eastering on the Dining Room Buffet

Hello, Dear Ones! Don't you just love this time of year? It's so exciting to see the new green growth on the trees and the little heads of plants popping up out of the ground. But the most wonderful thing about this time of year - we celebrate our Risen Savior Jesus Christ!

Okay, back to decorating...

Here is the top of my little vintage buffet in my dining room.
And she is all decked out for Easter with blooms and bunnies!
First of all I'll show you my floral in my tureen. I love to use my tureens to make flower arrangements in.
I love my beautiful vintage Fostoria cake stand and of course my tureen had to sit atop of it!
Like I said in an earlier post, these blooms are old. I do try to take care of them and arrange them in tubs according to the season and just go get what I need. Sometimes I'll have six tubs of flowers in the house going back and forth til I find just what I'm looking for. I'm talented like that! :)

On this side everything you see is old. Honey, I mean "OLD"!
This is just the sweetest little dish with little bunnies. See the little tiny bunny on the right scooting through the hole in the log?
Look how precious he is with that little bunny tail! I smile every time I look at it.
This is the other side with a lovely plate my sister-in-law gave me and two more little bunnies - one is a creamer and one a sugar bowl. Their eggs are really a salt and pepper set.
Aren't they sweet all dressed up in flowers and look at those darling little faces.
Okie dokie pokies...hope you've enjoyed seeing my little buffet today.

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                         Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

 Hokey Pokey

You put your one hand in
You put your one hand out
You put your one hand in
And you shake it all about
You do the hokey pokey
And you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about
Oh, hokey, hokey pokey
Oh, hokey, hokey pokey
Oh, hokey, hokey pokey
That's what it's all about
You put your one foot in
You put your one foot out
You put your one foot in
And you shake it all about
You do the hokey pokey
And you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about
Oh, hokey, hokey pokey
Oh, hokey, hokey pokey
Oh, hokey, hokey pokey
That's what it's all about

Mildred

Hello, Dear Ones!! I have something to share with you today that just excites my pants off!

Never mind, get that picture out of your head!

Are you familiar with Mount Clemens Pottery Company who made these lovely old dishes? The company broke ground in Ohio in 1914 and started making dishes. The Mildred pattern started being made in the 1930s and were sold in dime stores.

I was given two lovely dinner plates from a friend who said they were from his mother's china and these two plates were all that were left. I loved them - the pretty yellow and flowery trim! I hung them on my kitchen wall and they hung there for years until another friend said, "These plates are Mildreds!"

Oh, what I didn't know and then my look for these dishes started. The backs are nekked! No stamp, no name no nothing! Who would even know these were Mildreds? Well, I have acquired quite a few pieces through the years but am always looking for more. Last week Mr. Precious and I were in a resale shop and I spied a round table and guess what was all over it??? Mildreds!!! Yes! 51 pieces of Mildreds! I started jumping up and down and said I'll take them! All for $45!!! I was so excited.

Here they are on my dining room table. I unwrapped each one and counted them! Gorgeousness.
Then I brought out what I already had and above are the results! Now I have over 90 pieces!! Woo Hoo for me!
In my recent purchase I got the coveted round butter dish! Oh, she's beautiful, don't you think?
Again, the most coveted covered casserole! Yay me!
With my recent buy and my other Mildreds, I now have three gravy boats.
Three sets of the sugar bowls and creamers.
I couldn't wait to start poking them in my china cabinet. Aren't they pretty?
Here you can see the pretty pattern on Mildred.
I now have three large platters.
Aww...my heart goes pitter patter.
Here's a place setting, minus the bowl. I do have a few different sizes of bowls but bowls don't always look so pretty in the china cabinet. You can see I've also poked in a few pieces of cut glass and crystal.
I couldn't help myself and poked in a pretty little glass cupcake inside the gravy boat. The little bowl on the left has two handles! I don't know exactly what kind of bowl that is? Maybe to drink your soup from? Inquiring minds want to know.
Here you can see the two handled bowl a little better, a cup and saucer and my smaller platter.
I wanted to show you my china cabinet. I opened the doors so the glare from the glass wouldn't blind you. I also added doilies to some of the shelves. You know I love doilies.
I have never found Mildred salt and peppers but the Pioneer Woman came to my rescue. I was in Walmart looking at her products, which I just love, and saw these pretty Jadeite looking salt and peppers and grabbed them up so quickly. They will do for now till I find something else to work.

Well, I'm just thrilled to add to my collection and this just makes me so happy. Do you have some collections that you just love and get so excited too when you find something to add to them?

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                               Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~ (I know, I know, this is the most stupid song but it works today)

Mildred, Mildred

Mildred, mildred, how I love you so,
Remember the joke you told me
While we had our midnight tea.
That was the funniest joke I ever heard in my life,
I didn't tell you then 'cause I was drinking the tea.
Alfred, now alfred, you used to call me so.
And told me how it would be nice to open a plant shop.
That was the most sensible idea we had in our life,
I didn't tell you then 'cause I was reading the papers.
Mildred, oh, mildred, how I love you so,
Remember how you were angry when I talked to the box.
You kept trying to tell me something, something about your life,
But I didn't hear you then 'cause I was watching the box.
I bought a pot of plant now
And I'm watering it ev'ry day.
I watched the late night talk show
And asked the man in a suit
Why he was laughing so when my wife was dead.
He didn't reply,
No, he didn't reply at all.
And I burnt the box the next morning
And buried in our garden.
Mildred, oh, mildred, how I miss you so,
How I wish to tell you a lot of things about our life.
But of course you aren't around, you aren't around no more
And I hear the box still laughing in the next door apartment.

A Little Valentine Tree

Hello, Dear Ones and Happy Valentine's Day to you! I wanted to share with you my little Valentine's Day Tree.

I bought this little tree a couple of Christmases ago. I wanted a little skinny tree to put in this corner of my dining room. I guess I waited too long because all of the white ones, that I wanted, were gone and all I could find was this one - white on the top, pink in the middle and red at the bottom. It worked fine for Christmas but then I thought - Valentine's Day Tree!
So I went out to my tubs with faux flowers and grabbed red and pink ones. I also added some little heart picks and heart ornaments and a red and white garland! Perfect!
Then I printed out some vintage Valentine Cards off the internet. This was getting cute!
Look at that little Scottie! I love it!
More flowers, hearts and Valentines. A perfect little Valentine's Day tree.

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                       Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Can't Help Falling In Love With You

Wise men say
Only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you?
Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand
Take my whole life too
For I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand
Take my whole life too
For I can't help falling in love with you
For I can't help falling in love with you

Christmasing in the Dining Room

Hello, Dear Ones! I hope your Christmasing is going well! Do you think Christmas came a little early this year? It seems that way to me! Anyway, let's come into my little dining room today.

We recently had a dinner party with eight folks. I only have six chairs with my dining room table so I had to borrow a couple of little ones from the breakfast room.
For my centerpiece I grabbed this piece of Milk Glass and poked in some Christmas looking red roses and a few picks! I put a candle on each side with a little candle ring around each one. I had poked it all down on a red Christmas runner.
Here is my place setting. There are some Christmas dishes I've had for many a year and I paired the dishes up with my Ruby Red glass - little bowls and glasses. I also have some wine glasses but didn't use them this time. Can you see those darling little Christmas tree napkin rings? I poked in some non Christmas napkins, but they're red so I think they work.
Then on my little buffet, I went kinda simple using my white reindeer.
Aren't they sweet? They have little Christmas wreaths that go around their little necks but I didn't use them this year.
I always seem to keep my silverware box here and just use it to decorate on. Again, just simple - a candle and some frosty pears.
I wanted to show you my beautiful Fostoria cake stand I got recently. Oh, I just love this old Fostoria and this piece has been on my wishlist for some time.
Then on top of my curio cabinet I poked down a Christmas red thingy! My Rooster seems to like it!
For my dinner party I served heavy appetizers - and my guests seemed to like it! This is a bunch of friends who get together every month at each others homes so we can pull stuff like that! ;)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Fum, Fum, Fum

On December five and twenty,
Fum, fum, fum.
On December five and twenty,
Fum, fum, fum.
For a Blessed Babe was born
Upon this day at break of morn.
In a manger poor and lowly
Lay the Son of God most holy,
Fum, fum, fum.

Holidays the good Lord gave us,
Fum, fum, fum!
Holidays the good Lord gave us,
Fum, fum, fum!
Summer feasting suits us best,
Yet, withal His name be blest.
He who doth our needs remember,
Sent us Christmas in December,
Fum, fum, fum!

Little birds out in the wood,
Sing fum, fum, fum!
Little birds out in the wood,
Sing fum, fum, fum!
All your fledglings on the bough,
O leave them now, O leave them now.
Make a soft and downy nest
So the newborn babe may rest
Sing fum, fum, fum!

Little stars up in the sky,
Sing fum, fum, fum!
Little stars up in the sky,
Sing fum, fum, fum!
See the little Jesus crying,
Don't you cry, O don't you cry,
Fill the night with twinkling light.

Oh wondrous stars that shine so bright,
Sing fum, fum, fum!
