Come Into My Kitchen

Hello, Dear Ones! I pray you all had a lovely blessed Easter! Well, I did clean my house and that included my kitchen so what a great time to show you! Come on in...

We've lived in our little house now almost three years and here's my little kitchen.  It's little but I've adjusted to it! Our home was built in 1993 and our little kitchen really showed it. The cabinets are oak and sturdy but they were the orangey looking oak - so we had them painted. I had the island painted this pretty blue but I don't remember what color it was!
The backsplash looked like a cream and orangey colored argyle sock! Truly! So that got removed and we had some simple white subway tile put up. As you can see there isn't much backsplash. The cooktop is on the island and there is a little bit of back splash underneath the granite.
Here you can see how the kitchen relates to the living room on the other side of the half wall. I love that wall as it helps hide my kitchen when it's messy. Not that it ever is! :) You can see Charlotte sitting at the end of the island. She holds my tablecloths.
Another odd thing is - there are no knobs on my cabinet doors! Horror, right!?! I keep telling myself - I'll drill the holes and I'll put on the knobs but I haven't yet. You can see all of the appliances in the corner left of the fridge. They belong to Mr. Precious - coffee maker, his keurig and an air fryer. I am not loving that air fryer. Anything I've cooked in there just didn't turn out very good.                                If you have one, do you like it?
I still have my little bunnies out too!
Now you can see where my little breakfast room is, really it's just a breakfast area.
The island has an area where we could put bar stools but since it's just Mr. Precious and me, we have just left it alone. I would really love some narrow cabinets under there. Maybe one day.
On the far left is my pantry and it's little too! So much little in here. I do love white kitchens and along with white cabinets I wanted white appliances. Did you know it's very hard any more to get white appliances? We had to order everything.
I love plates on the wall and this little area of wall was perfect for four plates. I had the Currier and Ives four seasons plates hanging up here and they had a special hanger on the back. Well, when the freeze happened a couple of years ago and we were without power - three of the plates fell off the wall! The hanger just squeezed up and they fell and broke! I recently found these pretty little hand painted fruit plates! They are very colorful and I love them.
Just a warning to you. We ordered this fridge to get a white one. Well, it is absolutely a lemon! It's a Samsung and I didn't do my research before we purchased to see what the reviews were. The ice maker is total poop! And...water leaks down from the back of the fridge somehow and it collects under the meat drawer and every few days we have to pull the drawer out and clean up the water! When I finally looked up the reviews they were just horrible! We called Samsung customer service and they were nice enough to bring out a new ice maker and they guy put it in but it's already beginning to do the same thing! They know it's a lemon. So don't ever buy this model!
Well, enough whining! See the cute cow platter on top of my fridge? A friend gave her to me and I named her Lainie. Isn't she the cutest? She's the queen of the top of my fridge along with my blue hen, scale and a little dish (it's either a covered butter or cheese dish) - Roosters and Roses pattern.
Since it was Easter last weekend, I placed these cute little tea towels on my oven door handle. I bought these at Kroger's two years ago and added a little lace on the bottoms to fancy them up a bit.
Frilly frilly is fine with me.

Hope you've enjoyed visiting my little kitchen with me today. Sit down and I'll get us some peach tea!

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                          Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Come On-A My House

Come on-a my house, my house, I'm-a gonna give you candy.

Come on-a my house, my house, I'm-a gonna give you

Come on-a my house, my house, I'm-a gonna give you
everything, everything, everything.
Come on-a my house!

Just a Little Kitchen Vignette

Hello, Dear Ones! I needed to have a little something on my kitchen island. This island is raised and I know it can have bar stools and you can eat up here but it's just Mr. Precious and me and we don't need that. So I just poke stuff up here.

Here is what I came up with - pretties on a silver tray. The pretties are sitting on a crocheted doily that was made by my little grandmother many years ago.
First of all I'm using this pretty little Rooster that a dear blogger gave me years so. Unfortunately she doesn't blog any more. I poked a few greens in the Rooster's opening.
Here is a lovely little tea pot I'm using. She is a white as the new fallen snow. We don't have any snow, and we don't really ever have snow, but I know lots of you have snow right now!
Here is the matching sugar and creamer. Cuter than a button.
Here is a little pitcher but I don't know what it's for. I guess I could pour some Diet Dr. Pepper in it. What do you think it's used for?

All I can say is pretty is as pretty does.

Pretty Is As Pretty Does

Pretty is as pretty does
I know what it means because
I let her do me like she does
Now I'm pretty blue

Time is gonna help I know
And there's no place else to go
So I'll stay and see the show
I'll leave when it's through

When the joke's on you
It makes it kind of hard to laugh
Ain't nobody wants your autograph

I could help you out I guess
But I'd probably make a mess
I don't feel too good myself
So why listen to me

Pretty is as pretty does
You could go down for that buzz
Don't confuse what is with what was
What's now is history

Love is blind, you only see
What you want to see
Don't you know that beauty's just skin deep

Pretty is as pretty does
I know what it means because
I let her do me like she does
Now I'm pretty blue

Chillin' In The Kitchen Window

Hello, Dear Ones! Hope you're all doing well today. I wanted to show you the area in front of my kitchen window that is always fun to decorate!

I wanted to keep it simple here. I know my simple is probably overboard with some of your tastes but I'm kinda of a 'overly' kinda of gal. So this is my minimal look! :)
I've had this large platter forever and it's a nice piece to put in front of my tall kitchen window. I added some chicks and a Rooster. You can barely see my Milk Glass Rooster there on the right side and then there is a little Milk Glass chick on a nest. Then on the other side you'll see my turquoisey blue Hen on a Nest. I collect these and have so many. I love them.
In the corner of my window is my scale. I have a few of these too but this one is in the best shape of them all. I poked down a little tea towel and another Hen on a Nest - Milk Glass with a turquoisey little head. Isn't she just the cutest?
In the right hand corner I've used my little plate stand and added some Fostoria glass plates and they are holding up these darling little cows - a creamer and a sugar bowl! Another pair of cuties.

Well, there you have my kitchen window. I really would like some blinds on this window because I like to be private at night. I get skeert sometimes. So...until then I'll just have these little shears and these little curtains up.

Back Home Again

There's a storm across the valley, clouds are rollin' in
The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders
There's a truck out on the four lane, a mile or more away
The whinin' of his wheels just makes it colder
He's an hour away from ridin' on your prayers up in the sky
Ten days on the road are barely gone
There's a fire softly burning, supper's on the stove
It's the light in your eyes that makes him warm
Hey, it's good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again
There's all the news to tell him, how'd you spend your time?
What's the latest thing the neighbors say
And your mother called last Friday, sunshine made her cry
You felt the baby move just yesterday
Hey, it's good to be back home again, yes it is
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again
Oh, the time that I can lay this tired old body down
Feel your fingers feather soft on me
The kisses that I live for, the love that lights my way
The happiness that livin' with you brings me
It's the sweetest thing I know of, just spending time with you
It's the little things that make a house a home
Like a fire softly burning and supper on the stove
The light in your eyes that makes me warm
Hey, it's good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again
Hey, it's good to be back home again, you know it is
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Hey, it's good to be back home again
I said, hey, it's good to be back home again

My Little Obsession

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I'm going to confess...I do have a little obsession. My obsession is with Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron Cookware. I have acquired a few pieces and I love to look at them and pick them up and look at them some more.

I do use the big red dutch oven you see on the back right burner for beans and soups and have had that one over 20 years. Yes, I use that one. But the others - I just kinda look at them and dust the lids and look at them some more.
If you've visited me much you'll remember that I have a home for my Le Creuset right here on my little baker's rack. They look so nice here and I can get to them easily and pick them up and put them back down. And...look at them some more.
Well, I have made a resolution this year -
I. WILL. USE. MY. LE. CREUSET.
I will. I will. I will.

Here is my little red piece that I do use to keep my wooden utensils in. So this one is used daily. It's pretty old. Hmmm, maybe I need some new wooden spoons!

This little orangey red trio is pretty cute. On the right you'll see my tea pot and yes, I do use it to boil water in so it does get used. Then in the middle is a butter dish and occasionally I'll grab it and put a stick of butter in it for company. Then on the bottom left is a tiny little pie bird. Yes, Le Creuset makes little pie birds. Have I ever used it? Nope, and probably never will but it sure is cute though!
Then many years ago I went into a Salvation Army and saw this little orange Le Creuset. It was really in bad shape - all stained and looked like it was ready to bite the dust. But it was a good price and I grabbed it, brought it home and got out my Bar Keepers Friend and started scrubbing. She turned out pretty good. There are a few nicks in her but I got over that. Do I use her? Nope.
Then a few years ago Mr. Precious bought me the little yellow sunshine one that is the same size as my old orange one! Don't you love the colors? Do I use my sunshine yellow one? Nope. Well, I did boil some water in it once.
Mr. Precious also bought me this sunshine yellow brasier and it's a 5 quarter too. Do I use it? No, and I don't even know what I'd do with it. But she's so beautiful!
Mr. Precious knows about my obsession and for my birthday in November, he bought me this midnight blue pot! Oh, she's lovely too. I did make some black eyed peas in it.

So there you have it. I have confessed. I will use my pots this year. I will. I really will!
Do you use your Le Creusets? Inquiring minds want to know! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I said "Doctor, ain't there nothing I can take?"
I said "Doctor, you're such a silly woman"
Put de lime in the coconut and drink 'em bot' togedder
Put de lime in the coconut, and you feel better
Put de lime in the coconut, drink 'em bot' up
Put de lime in the coconut and call me in the morning
Yes, you call me in the morning
You call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do
Well, if you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do

Fall Kitchen Vignettes

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I have forgotten to show you my little touches of Fall around my little kitchen. So that is just what we'll do today. Come on in.

Here's my little sink area all Falled up. I couldn't get the right light exposure so I just turned my snap into a black and white. Oh, that's not a snake or anything in my left sink, it's just a little black mat so I won't scratch up the porcelain!

I try to use my Milk Glass all around the house so this cake stand is usually sitting here in front of the window with something on it. I just poked in some Fall faux stems and it was done!
I have a few of these old scales but this one is just in such great shape! This one sits on the left side of my kitchen window. Please let me introduce you to Buttercup. She is my very first cow creamer that I purchased many many years ago. She is so happy that she has her own pun'kin!
Moving right along to the right side of the window is my little tiered stand with a couple of yard birds. I love my yard birds.
I can never leave my mixer out so she gets some decor also as she sits on a Pioneer Woman place mat.
My only corner is filled with some sweet old things. These little bunnies are about 35 years old! The one on the right is a pitcher and the one on the left is a tureen. The red cabbage plate is perfect you know for rabbits. Rabbits for Fall? Why not? I used to collect rabbits and had them every where and these are some that I kept.
This little vignette is sitting by my cooktop so I can grab a wooden utensil to cook with. A little ceramic basket of pun'kins and a nice smelling candle is always nice. I don't know if you can tell, but the little toothpick holder is a pink glass bunny. Another left over from the bunny years!
Here is a little set up on the kitchen bar. Love my yard bird.
I just wanted to show you this adorable platter I found at Sur La Table. This sits at the back of my cook top and makes me smile every time I cook.

See this sweet floral? Mr. Precious bought me this last year for my birthday. Of course it was filled with live flowers but I knew I would reuse the little pun'kin vase again.
Now don't laugh. Trust me, this little arrangement looks better in person - well, that is what I'm telling myself. I could have done a better job but it is what it is!
Okie dokie! Now that we are finished I will wash my dainty little hands with this most scrumptious smelling hand soap!

Hope you've enjoyed seeing my little Fallness in the kitchen.

"Girls Just Want To Have Fun"

I come home in the morning light
My mother says, "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh, mamma, dear, we're not the fortunate ones
And girls—they wanna have fun
Oh, girls just wanna have fun

The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells, "What you gonna do with your life?"
Oh, daddy, dear, you know you're still number one
But girls—they wanna have fun
Oh, girls just wanna have

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Oh, girls—they wanna have fun
Oh, girls just wanna have fun

Girls—they wanna
Wanna have fun
Girls wanna have

Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I wanna be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Oh, girls—they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have fun,

Girls—they wanna
Wanna have fun
Girls wanna have

They just wanna
They just wanna
Girls
Just wanna
Girls just wanna have fun
They just wanna
Girls just wanna have fun
Just wanna
Just wanna
They just wanna
They just wanna
When the working day is done
Everybody
They just wanna
