The Queen

Hello, Dear Ones. I'm sure, just like me, you were all saddened to hear of England's Queen Elizabeth's passing. Her life story was just amazing.

As I told you on my previous post, I'm on a doll kick at the moment, crocheting little dolls. Well, I ran across this precious pattern of the Queen and knew I had to make her!

Isn't she just so cute??!! I picked out my yarns, grabbed my crochet hooks, stuffing and went to town.

Of course, in Queen Elizabeth style, she had to have a hat to match her outfit. I thought she's be pretty in pink. I crocheted some little flowers to go on her hat. The pattern called for gray hair but I wanted her to have white hair like she did at this time. You can see her cute little nose and safety eyes. They are plastic and are inserted into the front of the project and then fastened on the backside with a washer, kinda.

Moving on to her outfit. She has a little black bow at her neck as well as black trim at her wrists. But most importantly - her little purse! She always seemed to carry her little purse with her. She has on matching black shoes.
Queen Elizabeth will stand proudly in my sewing room and I hope you've enjoyed seeing my crochet project.

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                          Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

This was Queen Elizabeth's favorite song ~

Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven

Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven; To His feet thy tribute bring.Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,Evermore His praises sing:Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him, praise Him!Praise the everlasting King.Praise Him for His grace and favorTo our fathers in distress;Praise Him still the same as ever,Slow to chide, and swift to bless.Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him, praise Him!Glorious in His faithfulness.Fatherlike He tends and spares us,Well our feeble frame He knows; In His hands He gently bears us,Rescues us from all our foes.Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him, praise Him!Widely yet His mercy flows.Angels, help us to adore Him,Ye behold Him face to face;Sun and moon, bow down before Him;Dwellers all in time and space,Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him praise Him!Praise with us the God of grace.

Where In The World Have I Been?

Hello, Dear Ones! I so apologize for being gone soooooooo long! It was never my intention. I appreciate those of you who checked up on me. I'm doing great now and have just been busy and a bit sidetracked. That never does happen to you, does it?

Well, I've gone back to my childhood again and have been making little dolls. I get on these kicks and just can't stop. So that's what I've been doing - making little dolls.

Here's three of my little crocheted dolls. They are small, around 6" tall and are all crocheted and their little clothes and hair.

Here is a little blondie. She has on her pretty little pink dress and has a headband on her head that has flowers.
Here's another little lady in her little white dress trimmed in pink. She has on a little hat with a flower on the side. She is the only girl with shoes on!
This little girl has a pretty yellow dress trimmed in green with a matching hat. Her hair is very long and in ringlets. All of these little ladies hair is actually a crocheted wig that is sewn on her head after it's crocheted.

I've had so much fun making these little dolls. And, you make ask - who are they for? Well, they are for me!

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                            Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Rag Doll(

Hand-me-down) When she was just a kid her clothes were hand-me-down
(Hand-me-down) They always laughed at her when she came into town
Called her rag doll, little rag doll
Such a pretty face should be dressed in lace

Ooh, oo-oo-oo-ooh (Ooh-oo-ooh)
Ooh-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooh

(Sad rag doll) I'd change her sad rags into glad rags if I could
(If I could) My folks won't let me 'cause they say that she's no good
She's a rag doll, such a rag doll
Though I love her so, I can't let her know

Ooh, oo-oo-oo-ooh (Ooh-oo-ooh)
Ooh-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooh
Ahh, ah-ah-ah-ahh (Rag doll, ooh)
I love you just the way you are

Lizzy

Hello, Dear Ones!

Let me introduce you to Lizzy. She is just a little Texas rag doll pretending to be from the 1830s.

As you can see she has long pigtails, is wearing a green plaid dress with a little apron/pinafore over the top. She doesn't have any shoes. She must be very careful when she walks around outside if you know what I mean. She is wearing her best smile for you all today.

She is also wearing pantaloons underneath her little dress. She is all set.

The reason for Lizzy - Mr. Precious is a member of many ancestry groups and The Sons of the Republic of Texas is who Lizzy is for. They are putting together 'toy trunks'. Toys that would have been from that era and then the trunks will go to schools and a member will come along and show the toys and give some history from that time in Texas! I was thrilled to get to take part of this event, you know just because I'm so talented! You know I'm kidding, kinda! :)

Hope you like Lizzy.

As always...be a sweetie,

Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Dizzy, Miss Lizzy

Ow!You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy
The way you rock and roll
You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy
When you do the stroll
Come on, Miss Lizzy
Love me ‘fore I grow too old

Come on, give me fever
Put your little hand in mine
You make me dizzy, dizz, Lizzy
Ooh, girl, you look so fine
Just a-rockin’ an’ a-rollin’
Girl, I said I wish you were mine
Ah!

Ow!

Whoo

You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy
When you call my name
Ooh, baby
Say you’re driving me insane
Come on, come on, come on, come on, baby
I want to be your loving man
Ah!Ow!Run and tell your mama
I want you to be my bride
Run and tell your brother
Baby, don’t run and hide

You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy
Girl, I want to marry you
Come on, give me fever
Put your little hand in mine, girl
You make me dizzy, dizzy, Lizzy
Girl, you look so fine
You’re just a-rockin’ and a-rollin’
Ooh, I said I wish you were mine

Been Making Babies!

Hello, Dear Ones! I've not been posting much lately because I've been making babies!                         I've been making dolls! What did you think I meant? :)

Here are the girls! Eight, to be exact! They are all a little old fashioned looking as I have made them for some education toys trunks that will go to schools to teach the kids about early Texas history.                  So these dolls are kinda like little pioneer looking girls.
Each doll is different from the other. I found free patterns on Pinterest for their bodies and I just made up the clothes. I love Pinterest, don't you?

I cheated and didn't embroider the faces but just used the end of a paint brush dipped in paint.

Okay, let me introduce you to the girls:

First, we have Jeannette. Of all of the girls, she has the worst hair. There's always one gal like that!
This is Deborah. I think she is Scandinavian because of the way she likes to wear her long hair, braided and wrapped around her head.
This little lady is Tilly. She is small and a little bit of a stinker. She has bouncy little braids.
Meet Lydia! She is a big girl too and has pretty blonde hair with curly bangs and very special braids.
Here we have another little girl named Emmy Lou. Her hair is kinda stringy and held back from her face with a ribbon. She also has two side braids.
This is the smallest doll - Molly! She has lovely long blond braids and wears a little white apron.
This is Elizabeth. She has lovely dark red hair and such a sweet smile.
Meet Sue Ann. She is also a big girl and helps look after the little ones. She has brown thick hair and has it tied up in a side pony tail.
Lots of different dolls with different hair styles.
Each doll wears pantaloons under their dresses and all have brown felt shoes. The buttons on their shoes match their dresses.
Since I'm so fancy, I made my own labels that I sewed on the back of the dresses above the hem.           I want to go down in school education trunk history!

But...my most beautiful doll is Willow Dawn! She didn't want me to leave her out!

Oh, You Beautiful Doll

Honey dear, want you near,
Just turn out the lights and then come over here!
Nestle close, up to my side,
My heart's afire, with love's desire
In my arms, rest complete,
I never thought that life could ever be so sweet
'Til I met you, some time ago,
But now you know,
I love you so!

Oh, you beautiful doll!
You great, big, beautiful doll!
Let me put my arms about you,
I could never live without you.
Oh, you beautiful doll!
You great, big, beautiful doll!
If you ever leave me how my heart would ache,
I want to hug you but I fear you'd break
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, you beautiful doll!

Precious prize, close your eyes,
Now we're goin' to visit lover's paradise,
Press your lips,
Again to mine,
For love is king of everything
Squeeze me dear, I don't care!
Hug me just as if you were a grizzly bear
This is how I'll go through life,
No care or strife, when you're my wife...

I'm Just A Kitty Cat Doll

Hello, Dear Ones! My granddaughter, Carter, is going to be twelve years old this month. She really doesn't play with dolls much any more. She is trying to be a teenager but she is still a little girl! So what is a grandmother to do? Make her a doll any way - a kitty cat doll.

Carter love cats and has a tuxedo cat with the cutest little pink nose named Rosebud. She also works with The Cat Lady on Saturdays at their local market. The Cat Lady has little rescue cats that she sells and Carter helps her. That's where she got Rosebud.
This is what I came up with. I didn't have a kitty cat pattern but knew I wanted the kitty to look very ladylike! So, since I'm so talented, I used my Tilda doll pattern for her body, please know I'm teasing. I changed the arms and made little paws and made the legs just skinny and straight. Oh, I made her a very long neck too.
I made her a little necklace with this little metal heart. The chain is really a fine silver elastic. I think it looks pretty realistic. No matter how hard I try, I can never get rid of the neck wrinkles on my dolls. There must be a special secret to get a smooth neck, but I don't know what it is. If you do, PLEASE share it with me.
I didn't want her to be bared pawed so I made her some little felt shoes and added a couple of red beads.
When I make my Tilda dolls, I just use a dot of paint for the eyes but this time I got all smarty pants and painted her eyes. I gave her lots of eyeliner. Since she's a doll and I've made her, I can forget the rules - no cat's eye but a rather sultry little blue eyed cat.
I had to put a tail on her so I left an opening in her dress and sewed down her tail. I should have put a bow on the end of her tail but alas - I've already mailed her off. Oh, and she had to have hair - long luxurious blond hair!
Here you can see the rest of her little face. Pink nose like Rosebuds and red lips. I didn't want to add whiskers so I just gave her some little whisker freckles.
She also has perky little ears too.
Before Miss Kitty Cat went to the Post Office, she hopped up on the den mantel to pose and cross her skinny little legs. Doesn't she look so ladylike in her sweet little floral dress with a pretty bow on her belt?
My hands are tired with all of the sewing and stuffing and kitty cat making. Now, I'm a better grandmother than just sending a kitty cat doll to Carter - she will get a check too so she can go shopping!

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                               Shelia :)

 What's New Pussy Cat?

What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa

What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa

Pussycat, pussycat
I've got flowers and lots of hours to spend with you
So go and powder your cute little pussycat nose
Pussycat, pussycat, I love you, yes, I do
You and your pussycat nose
What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa
What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Pussycat, pussycat
You're so thrilling and I'm so willing to care for you
So go and make up your big little pussycat eyes
Pussycat, pussycat, I love you, yes, I do
You and your pussycat eyes
What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa
What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Pussycat, pussycat
You're delicious and if my wishes can all come true
I'll soon be kissing your sweet little pussycat lips
Pussycat, pussycat, I love you, yes, I do
You and your pussycat lips (whoa whoa), you and your pussycat eyes (whoa whoa)
You and your pussycat nose

Meet Betsy

Hello, Dear Ones. Well, today I should be organizing my closet but no, I wanted to make a doll. So I did! Meet Betsy!

Here is little Betsy. She's a pretty cute girl and she is so happy that I decided to make her.

Here's the pattern I used and I decided to make view B as I liked the little pigtail puffs! Betsy stand 25" tall in all of her rag dollness.

You can see Betsy's little face where I embroidered her little eyes and mouth before I stuffed her head. Now I've made a lot of dolls but never have I used felt as the base for hair. It looks so neat and I have to admit, it was a lot easier than attaching all the yarn needed for hair. Betsy has little yarn bangs sewn right in the center of the front of the felt.  Then I made the pigtail puffs from yarn and attached them down to the felt and added little red bows.

Here are some closeups of the details of her outfit. The pretty fabric is Pioneer Woman fabric! Who knew? It's really beautiful with all of the pretty flowers. The top of her dress is a soft blue fabric. I added a little red ribbon belt, bow and glued down some flowers. I also added lace to the edge of her sleeves, dress and collar.
Her pantaloons are the same soft blue as the top of her dress and I added lace to the hems. Unfortunately, Betsy doesn't like to wear shoes so I didn't bother making her any,

Betsy wanted to stand up so you could really see how lovely she is in her pretty dress. Do I have work to do around the house? Yes, lots to do. But I had rather play and make dolls! Hope you've enjoyed seeing little Betsy.

Living Doll

Got myself a crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living doll
Got to do my best to please her, just 'cause she's a living doll
Got a roving eye and that is why she satisfies my soul
Got the one and only walking, talking, living doll
Well, take a look at her hair, it's real
And if you don't believe what I say, just feel
I'm gonna lock her up in a trunk
So no big hunk can steal her away from me
Got myself a crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living doll
Got to do my best to please her, just 'cause she's a living doll
Got a roving eye and that is why she satisfies my soul
Got the one and only walking, talking, living doll
Well, take a look at her hair, it's real
And if you don't believe what I say, just feel
Gonna lock her up in a trunk
So no big hunk can steal her away from me
Got myself a crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living doll
Got to do my best to please her, just 'cause she's a living doll
Got a roving eye and that is why she satisfies my soul
Got the one and only walking, talking, living doll

Sweet Things Revisited

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I was getting a little nostalgic today and was thinking about some of my past crocheted pieces - cute crocheted pieces - and I would like to share them with you today.

First I would like to show you this cute tea cozy I crocheted. I made these one long cold snowy winter when we lived in upstate New York.

Look at all of these darling little flowers that cover the top of the tea cozy.
I have to admit, this is a cutie, don't you think?

I guess I couldn't stop crocheting as I made these darling little girl egg cozies.
Look at those silly little faces! Alas, I only have three now as my little granddaughter loved these and played with them and lost one!
Do you ever use egg cozies or are they just for looks because they are cute.

I'm such a generous grandmother, when we moved from New York I gave all of my egg cups to my grandchildren! Hmm...I may be on the lookout for some more.

Thanks for popping in to see me today.

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                        Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Good Day Sunshine

Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
I need to laugh, and when the sun is out
I've got something I can laugh about
I feel good, in a special way
I'm in love and it's a sunny day
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
We take a walk, the sun is shining down
Burns my feet as they touch the ground
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
And then we lie, beneath a shady tree
I love her and she's loving me
She feels good, she knows she's looking fine
I'm so proud to know that she is mine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine
Good day sunshine

Still Dolling It Up!

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I've been playing again...making dolls. Tilda dolls. Cowgirl Tilda dolls.

Yee Haw! Here she is! All decked out and ready for the Houston, Texas rodeo.
My Tilda cowgirl has long long brown braids and a tiny little straw cowgirl hat, I didn't make that but found a few at Hobby Lobby. Tiny little dot eyes and pink blush cheeks. Tildas don't have mouths. Since her neck is so tiny I cut out her little bandana with my pinking shears and it works! She's wearing her little red checked top and a blue jean skirt with a little pretty trim around the hem.
Boots! I've never made boots before and just made them up. They are not perfect but they will have to do for now. I've made so many Tildas that I just make up the clothes as to what I want. I'm just so talented like that, you know. I am teasing. :)

Now this is a Texas gal and she has to have her little gun with her. You know, if an ornery critter should try to attack her! I was looking around in the jewelry section at Hobby Lobby and found this little gun!
Well, I just couldn't stop there and made another cowgirl Tilda.
This little cowgirl Tilda has thicker braids and decided to be a little sassy and tilt her tiny head just so slightly! No matter if I made a dozen of one particular doll - each one would turn out a little differently from the others.
This little cowgirl has a blue bandana and both belts are made from a leather looking trim. There is a reason I made two Tilda cowgirls - one is for me and the other is donated to sell for a charity.
I'm just so wonderful like that! :)
Yee haw, y'all.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

I Wanna Be a Cowboy

Riding on the range
I've got my hat- on
I've got my boots- dusty
I've got my saddle
On my horse
He's called (t-t-t-t-t-trigger)
Of course
I wanna be a cowboy
And you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
And you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
Riding on the chuck- wagon
Following my man
His name is Ted
Can you believe that? (Ted- oh Ted- Fighting off danger)
Camping on the prairie
Plays havoc with my hair
Makes me feel quite dirty
Don't we all do sometimes? (Ted gets so dirty)
I wanna be a cowboy
And you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
And you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
Looking like a hero
Six-gun at my side
Chewing my tobacco (ptui!)
(Hey drag away, quick wag away- whip!)
Out on the horizon
I see a puff of smoke
Indians on the warpath
(White man speaking with forked tongue, isn't it?)
Or not
I wanna be a cowboy
And you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
And you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
And you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
And you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
And you can be my cowgirl
I wanna be a cowboy
My name is Ted
And one day- I'll be dead yo-yo-yo
