Easter Coffee Table

Hello, Dear Ones! I'm a little behind with my Easter decorating as I've been sewing making dolls and then Mr. Precious and I celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary. So I thought I'd start in my living room and show you my coffee table set up for Easter.

A little pastely and girly but Mr. Precious doesn't mind. Oh, and everything looks better sitting on a doily. That's my opinion.
I recently found this beautiful fluted edge Milk Glass cake stand and knew it would be perfect for something with my Easter decor so here it is!
Here you can see the delicate edge. I'm just in love with it.
I poked bunches of sweet spring blooms on it and two of my little bunnies hopped right down in the center. Look at those cute little mischievous faces.
I found this darling girl at Kirklands last week and she jumped into my cart. Isn't it funny how those things just happen?
She is so pretty with her big lovely eyes and flowers on her little head.
Now this pink glass bunny covered dish is pretty old and unfortunately I broke her little ear in two places! I was upset but tried to mend her with some E600. It worked pretty good but you can see the broken line at the base of her ear. That's okay, we all have scares. I gave her some flowers so she wouldn't feel left out.
I added a sprinkling of Easter postcards on my doily just to fill in some space and one postcard to remind us that Easter is just not about the bunnies, cute as they are, but about our risen Savior Jesus!

Hope you've enjoyed seeing my little vignette on my coffee table. I think I need some candy now!

I'm joining the party Inspire Me Tuesday

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

He Lives

I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today
I know that He is living, whatever men may say
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer
And just the time I need Him He's always near
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
Along life's narrow way
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart
In all the world around me I see His loving care
And though my heart grows weary I never will despair
I know that He is leading, through all the stormy blast
The day of His appearing will come at last
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
Along life's narrow way
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart
Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ, the King
The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find
None other is so loving, so good and kind
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
Along life's narrow way
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart

Our 49th Wedding Anniversary

Hello, Dear Ones! Hope you're all doing fine. I promise I will get back to decorating but I just had to share with you that Mr. Precious and I celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary on March 23rd!

We went with some friends to celebrate at Morton's steakhouse! Here you see they brought us a complimentary desert, well they should as their prices are outrageous! But, everything was very delicious.
Here is a picture of us in Hawaii in 1976, our first trip. We have been blessed to have visited there many many times since. We were just kids here.

I always tell Mr. Precious not to get me anything as I can't think of anything I want but he always brings me flowers and these are just so beautiful. There are roses and many lovely lilies that are still opening.
Here's a closeup of the key lime pie and how they chocolated 'Happy Anniversary'.
Just to say, God has really blessed us with love for each other and friendship. We can work together and still love each other. I know some couples who say - we'd kill each other if we worked together. We really are best friends and still love to be with each other.
I thank God for my Mr. Precious and all these years we have been together. Next year is the really big one. I don't know what we will do for that one but we will think of something.

Like I said, I have been decorating for Easter and will show you soon.

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                        Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song !

The Air That I Breath

If I could make a wish
I think I'd pass
Can't think of anythin' I need
No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound
Nothing to eat, no books to read
Making love with you
Has left me peaceful, warm, and tired
What more could I ask
There's nothing left to be desired
Peace came upon me and it leaves me weak
So sleep, silent angel
Go to sleep
Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes, to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Peace came upon me
And it leaves me weak
So sleep, silent angel
Go to sleep
Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes, to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes, to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you

Been Making Babies!

Hello, Dear Ones! I've not been posting much lately because I've been making babies!                         I've been making dolls! What did you think I meant? :)

Here are the girls! Eight, to be exact! They are all a little old fashioned looking as I have made them for some education toys trunks that will go to schools to teach the kids about early Texas history.                  So these dolls are kinda like little pioneer looking girls.
Each doll is different from the other. I found free patterns on Pinterest for their bodies and I just made up the clothes. I love Pinterest, don't you?

I cheated and didn't embroider the faces but just used the end of a paint brush dipped in paint.

Okay, let me introduce you to the girls:

First, we have Jeannette. Of all of the girls, she has the worst hair. There's always one gal like that!
This is Deborah. I think she is Scandinavian because of the way she likes to wear her long hair, braided and wrapped around her head.
This little lady is Tilly. She is small and a little bit of a stinker. She has bouncy little braids.
Meet Lydia! She is a big girl too and has pretty blonde hair with curly bangs and very special braids.
Here we have another little girl named Emmy Lou. Her hair is kinda stringy and held back from her face with a ribbon. She also has two side braids.
This is the smallest doll - Molly! She has lovely long blond braids and wears a little white apron.
This is Elizabeth. She has lovely dark red hair and such a sweet smile.
Meet Sue Ann. She is also a big girl and helps look after the little ones. She has brown thick hair and has it tied up in a side pony tail.
Lots of different dolls with different hair styles.
Each doll wears pantaloons under their dresses and all have brown felt shoes. The buttons on their shoes match their dresses.
Since I'm so fancy, I made my own labels that I sewed on the back of the dresses above the hem.           I want to go down in school education trunk history!

But...my most beautiful doll is Willow Dawn! She didn't want me to leave her out!

Oh, You Beautiful Doll

Honey dear, want you near,
Just turn out the lights and then come over here!
Nestle close, up to my side,
My heart's afire, with love's desire
In my arms, rest complete,
I never thought that life could ever be so sweet
'Til I met you, some time ago,
But now you know,
I love you so!

Oh, you beautiful doll!
You great, big, beautiful doll!
Let me put my arms about you,
I could never live without you.
Oh, you beautiful doll!
You great, big, beautiful doll!
If you ever leave me how my heart would ache,
I want to hug you but I fear you'd break
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, you beautiful doll!

Precious prize, close your eyes,
Now we're goin' to visit lover's paradise,
Press your lips,
Again to mine,
For love is king of everything
Squeeze me dear, I don't care!
Hug me just as if you were a grizzly bear
This is how I'll go through life,
No care or strife, when you're my wife...

I'm Just A Kitty Cat Doll

Hello, Dear Ones! My granddaughter, Carter, is going to be twelve years old this month. She really doesn't play with dolls much any more. She is trying to be a teenager but she is still a little girl! So what is a grandmother to do? Make her a doll any way - a kitty cat doll.

Carter love cats and has a tuxedo cat with the cutest little pink nose named Rosebud. She also works with The Cat Lady on Saturdays at their local market. The Cat Lady has little rescue cats that she sells and Carter helps her. That's where she got Rosebud.
This is what I came up with. I didn't have a kitty cat pattern but knew I wanted the kitty to look very ladylike! So, since I'm so talented, I used my Tilda doll pattern for her body, please know I'm teasing. I changed the arms and made little paws and made the legs just skinny and straight. Oh, I made her a very long neck too.
I made her a little necklace with this little metal heart. The chain is really a fine silver elastic. I think it looks pretty realistic. No matter how hard I try, I can never get rid of the neck wrinkles on my dolls. There must be a special secret to get a smooth neck, but I don't know what it is. If you do, PLEASE share it with me.
I didn't want her to be bared pawed so I made her some little felt shoes and added a couple of red beads.
When I make my Tilda dolls, I just use a dot of paint for the eyes but this time I got all smarty pants and painted her eyes. I gave her lots of eyeliner. Since she's a doll and I've made her, I can forget the rules - no cat's eye but a rather sultry little blue eyed cat.
I had to put a tail on her so I left an opening in her dress and sewed down her tail. I should have put a bow on the end of her tail but alas - I've already mailed her off. Oh, and she had to have hair - long luxurious blond hair!
Here you can see the rest of her little face. Pink nose like Rosebuds and red lips. I didn't want to add whiskers so I just gave her some little whisker freckles.
She also has perky little ears too.
Before Miss Kitty Cat went to the Post Office, she hopped up on the den mantel to pose and cross her skinny little legs. Doesn't she look so ladylike in her sweet little floral dress with a pretty bow on her belt?
My hands are tired with all of the sewing and stuffing and kitty cat making. Now, I'm a better grandmother than just sending a kitty cat doll to Carter - she will get a check too so she can go shopping!

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                               Shelia :)

 What's New Pussy Cat?

What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa

What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa

Pussycat, pussycat
I've got flowers and lots of hours to spend with you
So go and powder your cute little pussycat nose
Pussycat, pussycat, I love you, yes, I do
You and your pussycat nose
What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa
What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Pussycat, pussycat
You're so thrilling and I'm so willing to care for you
So go and make up your big little pussycat eyes
Pussycat, pussycat, I love you, yes, I do
You and your pussycat eyes
What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa
What's new pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Pussycat, pussycat
You're delicious and if my wishes can all come true
I'll soon be kissing your sweet little pussycat lips
Pussycat, pussycat, I love you, yes, I do
You and your pussycat lips (whoa whoa), you and your pussycat eyes (whoa whoa)
You and your pussycat nose

Dawn At The Alamo

Hello, Dear Ones. It's been a few days since I've posted as I've been a busy gal! We planned on going to San Antonio, Texas to participate in the Dawn At The Alamo ceremony. Mr. Precious is a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas which means he has ancestors who were in Texas by 1836 and he wanted to experience this. He is a fifth generation Texan. I was born in Alabama but I am a Texan - I've decided!

Any way, his Sons of the Republic of Texas have a uniform of sorts that they wear at special meetings: gray slacks, blue jacket and a light colored cowboy hat! Well, I couldn't be outdone and made me a blue jean skirt and sewed some pretty lace on my blue jean jacket so I could look Texany!

We love San Antonio and it holds a special place in our hearts as we were married there.
The ceremony started at 6:00ish am. I was up at 4:00 am to get ready. A little too early for me.
Now I knew about the Battle at the Alamo but I did learn a lot while attending. This ceremony is held every year on March 6th as this was the last battle at the Alamo - the day Santa Anna's army overtook Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, William Travis and many more. The descendants of the people who were killed at the Alamo honor their ancestors by coming a placing a wreath in their honor in front of the Alamo. As this happened, there was a man who played a soulful violin. It made tears come to my eyes.
Here you can see members of the Sons of the Republic of Texas in their cowboy hats. Mr. Precious is in there somewhere.
After the wreaths were placed, men dressed in their period clothes fired their rifles, with just gun powder, up into the air as a salute to all of those who gave their lives for what they believed.
Here are a few snaps to show you some of the happenings. The large picture is my Mr. Precious looking so handsome in his Texas getup posing with the reenactors.
Here we are: me in my blue jean skirt I made (it has embroidered flowers all over the denim) and I found some pretty lace to sew at the cuffs and hem of my jacket. I have my red hat on, it's not a cowgirl hat but it's all I have so I wore it. I bought some new boots! Can you see them?
We went with some of our sweet friends. Don't they just look like the sweetest ones!

What an opportunity to come and learn more about this battle. We came home and watched the 1960 movie with John Wayne - The Alamo. I read it wasn't as historically correct as the Alamo movie made in 2004. I feel another movie night is in line.

Be a bunch of sweeties,                                                                                                                        Shelia :)

 "Texas , Our Texas "

by William J. Marsh and Gladys Yoakum Wright

Texas , Our Texas ! All hail the mighty State!

Texas, Our Texas ! So wonderful so great!
Boldest and grandest, withstanding ev'ry test
O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.

(Chorus)

Texas , Our Texas ! Your freeborn single star,
Sends out its radiance to nations near and far,
Emblem of Freedom! It sets our hearts aglow,
With thoughts of
San Jacinto and glorious Alamo.

(Chorus)

Texas, dear Texas ! From tyrant grip now free,
Shines forth in splendor, your star of destiny!
Mother of heroes, we come your children true,
Proclaiming our allegiance, our faith, our love for you.

(Chorus)

God bless you Texas!  And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the

ages long.

God
bless you
Texas
!  And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.

Meet Betsy

Hello, Dear Ones. Well, today I should be organizing my closet but no, I wanted to make a doll. So I did! Meet Betsy!

Here is little Betsy. She's a pretty cute girl and she is so happy that I decided to make her.

Here's the pattern I used and I decided to make view B as I liked the little pigtail puffs! Betsy stand 25" tall in all of her rag dollness.

You can see Betsy's little face where I embroidered her little eyes and mouth before I stuffed her head. Now I've made a lot of dolls but never have I used felt as the base for hair. It looks so neat and I have to admit, it was a lot easier than attaching all the yarn needed for hair. Betsy has little yarn bangs sewn right in the center of the front of the felt.  Then I made the pigtail puffs from yarn and attached them down to the felt and added little red bows.

Here are some closeups of the details of her outfit. The pretty fabric is Pioneer Woman fabric! Who knew? It's really beautiful with all of the pretty flowers. The top of her dress is a soft blue fabric. I added a little red ribbon belt, bow and glued down some flowers. I also added lace to the edge of her sleeves, dress and collar.
Her pantaloons are the same soft blue as the top of her dress and I added lace to the hems. Unfortunately, Betsy doesn't like to wear shoes so I didn't bother making her any,

Betsy wanted to stand up so you could really see how lovely she is in her pretty dress. Do I have work to do around the house? Yes, lots to do. But I had rather play and make dolls! Hope you've enjoyed seeing little Betsy.

Living Doll

Got myself a crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living doll
Got to do my best to please her, just 'cause she's a living doll
Got a roving eye and that is why she satisfies my soul
Got the one and only walking, talking, living doll
Well, take a look at her hair, it's real
And if you don't believe what I say, just feel
I'm gonna lock her up in a trunk
So no big hunk can steal her away from me
Got myself a crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living doll
Got to do my best to please her, just 'cause she's a living doll
Got a roving eye and that is why she satisfies my soul
Got the one and only walking, talking, living doll
Well, take a look at her hair, it's real
And if you don't believe what I say, just feel
Gonna lock her up in a trunk
So no big hunk can steal her away from me
Got myself a crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living doll
Got to do my best to please her, just 'cause she's a living doll
Got a roving eye and that is why she satisfies my soul
Got the one and only walking, talking, living doll
